Actress Taapsee Pannu recently was part of a stand-up comedy show in Mumbai and made few comments about her debut movie director K. Raghavendra Rao at the show which did not go down well with the Telugu audience. The actress had said at the show that she found strange about the obsession about midriff for the directors in Telugu and the way it was portrayed in films. Her comments drew some ire from the Telugu audience and viewers on social media and there was a huge uproar about the issue.

Taapsee posted a video on her social networking page and apologized to the director K. Raghavendra Rao and the Telugu audiences. Taapsee said in the video, “It is not in my upbringing that I will hurt anyone who has been such an important part of my journey. Raghavendra Rao garu is the reason why I am here in the industry in the first place, and I can never forget that. It’s just strange how everyone alleged that I insulted him, but I didn’t, I will never. So I really want to apologise if I have hurt anyone’s sentiment. But trust me, I did not intend to.”

Taapsee also clarified that her comments were not about K. Raghavendra Rao but herself. “It took me a little while to understand what was wrong in my comments because I thought that it was me I was making fun of – of how unfit I was for this industry and how I was so clueless about whatever was happening with me in the industry. I really wanted to make fun of myself and nothing else. I felt it is great if you can laugh at your own self. But in the process, if I have, by mistake hurt anyone, I am really sorry,” added Taapsee.

I agree with what Tapsee said about Rao’s direction, but I am against some people pointing fingers at Telugu or south Indian film industry. Actresses are exploited in Bollywood too. Bollywood doesn’t even make quality films anymore.

Most heroines in Telugu are for skin show and glamour. Once in a while, a heroine-driven movie would come, but we all know the business of those. Glad that Taapsee is utilizing her talent in strong roles in Bollywood.

This is one industry where actresses are exploited very badly. I feel sorry for women who are part of this industry, usually they have no substantial role only just for adding glamour quoetient. Main lead actors are shown larger than life and most of the stories 2 actresses will be fighting for him.

True…But slowly and surely a change is coming…typical masala movies are not working as well. Most of these actresses only get a chance because of fair skin.

Wow…she does not have to. This man dresses like a god but has lewd and vulgar imagination in songs. Taapsee must be desperate to do some telugu movies.
