Last year, the much-loved Taapsee Pannu made a successful comeback to Telugu cinema when Anando Brahma opened to a good response at the box office and became one of the biggest surprise hits of 2017. A horror-comedy, it featured her in the role of a ghost and received rave reviews from all quarters.
Now, with 2017 in the reariew,Taapsee is shooting for a film with Aadhi. And, as expected, she is quite excited about it. During a recent chat with Times of India, she spoke about the film and said that it will be an experimental thriller rather than a formula-based entertainer.
“It’s a thriller and Hari is directing it. While having all the commercial fundamentals in place, it’s an attempt to give something new to the audience. Kona Venkat (Screenwriter for the film) summed it up aptly when he said the film is a ‘commercial experiment’. It will not be a routine boy-meets-girl kind of story with formulaic stunts and dances,” she added.
Interestingly, Taapsee has become a big name in Bollywood because of films like Judwaa 2 and Pink. And, needless to say, this has led to rumours of her shifting to Bollywood fulltime. Addressing this speculation, she said that she has no plans of quitting Tollywood anytime soon.
“Why will I stay away from Tollywood or the South for that matter? I am what I am today because of Tollywood, I learnt everything about acting here. One should not forget one’s roots. Many people advised me that I should focus on only one particular industry, but I don’t believe in that. However, I’m only accepting films which interest me now, North or South. I’m working for my own happiness. I don’t think I have to prove anything to anyone anymore. If I do a film, it should be something which would make someone want to fork out two hundred bucks and come to the theater to watch it,” she added.
Well, we wish Taapsee good luck and hope that her upcoming films do well at the box office.
