Sometime ago, actress Taapsee Pannu found herself in the midst of an ugly controversy when she made some strong comments about K Raghavendra Rao’s ‘obsession’ with the navel. After receiving severe criticism, she issued an apology and said that her comments had been completely misconstrued. Now, Taapsee has made some strong comments about the controversy again. While speaking to a news agency, the actress said that there is a tendency to objectify women in all industries.
“There’s an obsession for a female’s body everywhere. Do I need to name some songs in Bollywood that have some weird obsessions? It’s not just there (in the southern film industry). I was just sharing my experience because I have seen that in the south, and that glamour bit has not happened with me in Bollywood yet,” she added.
She went on to add that she has tremendous respect for Rao and is grateful to him for launching her career.
“People thought I was trying to humiliate the director who launched me, which obviously was not the case. I am not that stupid. I always give credit to him (for my career) and have always said that he is a man with the Midas Touch. He is known to launch very big stars. Why will I go and be hurtful or disrespectful towards him?” said Taapsee.
On a related note, this is an eventful time for Taapsee. She will soon be seen in the Telugu horror-comedy ‘Anando Brahma’. Besides this, she has ‘Judwaa 2’ in her kitty.
