Versatile actor Dr. Mohan Babu is all set to play legendary actor SV Ranga Rao in Mahanati, the biopic based on life of the great yesteryear actress Savithri. Makers have officially announced the news that ‘Vilakshana Natudu’ Mohan Babu agreed to reprise the role of ‘Vishwa Nata Chakravarthy’ SV Ranga Rao in the film. Reportedly, Mohan Babu will be joining the team by end of October or early in November. However, it will be a brief cameo appearance, add sources.
Keerthy Suresh is reprising the titular role of ‘Mahanati Savithri’ in this ambitious project directed by Nag Ashwin of ‘Yevade Subrahmanyam’ fame. The film is being produced by Swapna Cinema and Vyjayanthi Movies. Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be playing a key role in the film while Dulquer Salmaan will be seen as Tamil veteran actor Gemini Ganesan and Prakash Raj to appear as producer Chakrapani of Vijaya Vahini Studios.
Shalini Pandey of Arjun Reddy fame is also part of this film. Mahanati is a bilingual being made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. Speaking about the film in a recent interview, director Nag Ashwin had said, “It’ll be a magnum opus period film set in the golden era. With massive set pieces, the film will be unlike anything we’ve explored in Indian cinema.” The makers are said to be putting in their efforts in the making of the film to ensure the film is a huge success and brings out some unknown facts about the iconic actress Savitri. The makers are yet to announce the tentative release date of the film.
