That a biopic on Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy is in the pipeline is something we all know. To be directed by Mahi Raghava, the biopic on Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy has been titled Yatra and will have Malayalam mega star Mammootty playing the titular role. The makers had recently released the first look poster of the film and Mammootty seems to have gotten the style of YSR perfectly. And according to latest reports, the makers have roped in a veteran actor for an important role in the biopic. Reports reveal that actor Rao Ramesh has been signed to play the role of K.V.P.Ramachandra Rao in Yatra. K.V.P.Ramachandra was one of the closest aides of Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy and is an important role in the narrative of the life-story of the politican.
“Yes, Rao Ramesh is playing K.V.P.’s role,” director Mahi Raghav was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle. So far, Mammootty and Rao Ramesh are the only actors who have been confirmed in the cast of Yatra. Earlier, there were speculations that Nayanthara has been approached to play an important role in biopic however, nothing has been officially announced. “We are looking at a few options and shall decide in a few days,” Mahi Raghav added further.
Earlier, the director had said that he will soon Mammootty and discuss the characterisation of YSR in the film. “Yes, Mammootty sir has agreed to do the lead role. The film will be made on a lavish scale and a lot of homework will go into it. I’ll be meeting Mammootty sir soon and we will work on the characterisation together,” Mahi Raghav had said.
Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy was one of the most celebrated politicians in the then Andhra Pradesh and was also the former Chief Minister. A film on his life story has drawn the attention of many and keeping Telugu audience excited about it.
