Actor Vijay Deverakonda— the latest sensation of Telugu cinema—recently grabbed the limelight for all the wrong reasons when he behaved rudely with a female anchor who asked him difficult questions about ‘Arjun Reddy’. As it so happens, the lady asked him why his film featured so many scenes involving drug abuse and kissing. Believe it or not, this angered Devkerakonda and he rudely asked the anchor if she was herself interested in such stuff. Shocked by this behaviour, the lady said that it was her right to criticise a film. Needless to say, this upset Deverakonda even more and he said that only people ‘like her’ had a problem with ‘Arjun Reddy’.
“That’s your opinion. You liked those scenes, and you focused on them. Many people have liked many other things. Two or three people like you won’t like it. You have to remember, this is a film, this is a character, Arjun will behave like that only,” he added.
Besides this, he also justified the use of a swear word about mother in ‘Arjun Reddy’ by giving a terribly sexist explanation.
“If somebody makes nasty comments about my mother, I won’t go and appeal to them in a humble manner, asking them not to make such comments. If somebody touches us we won’t say, “kindly remove your hand.” We directly abuse them in these [muted] words. This is something we took from life and used in our film. So, let’s not be hypocritical about why we have used it in the film. And, it is justified,” added Deverakonda.
Well, these are some shocking remarks and it will be worth watching whether he faces some backlash for his words.
