Interestingly, ‘Tholiprema’ was also the title of Varun Tej’s uncle, Pawan Kalyan’s super hit film which starred Keerthi Reddy in the lead role. ‘Tholiprema’ was one of the biggest blockbusters in the career of Pawan Kalyan and was a musical hit too. Directed by A.Karunakaran, ‘Tholiprema’ was released in 1999 and is still considered to be one of the biggest films in Pawan Kalyan’s career.

Varun Tej recently revealed why chose to do a romantic film after the FIdaa and said, “People must be wondering why I’m doing two back-to-back love stories. Venky’s love story is very different and that’s why I didn’t mind doing these films in succession. Both of these films have their own charm. Even though ‘Fidaa’ was a love story, Sekhar’s touch and presentation made it stand out. Similarly, Venky has perceived love so differently and that’s what makes his film different.”
