The audio of Mahanati was unveiled yesterday, May 1st, 2018 at a star studded event in Hyderabad which was attended by Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Akkineni. Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati is the biopic of iconic actress Savitri who ruled the South Indian cinema in the 60s and 70s. The event was graced by Jr NTR as the chief guest and the actor spoke about his memories of his grandfather N.T.Rama Rao who worked with Savitri in numerous movies. Jr NTR said that he was asked by the producer Swapna Dutt to play the role of his grandfather in the film which would have been a cameo but he had to reject that because he felt he would not be able to do justice to the role.
“Swapna Dutt is a dear friend of mine and we’ve grown up together. Aswini Dutt, Swapna’s father, started his production house Vyjayanathi Movies which was named by my grandfather. And Swapna started her career as producer with my film and hence we have a special bond. Swapna asked me to play the role of my grandfather N.T.Rama Rao in the film but I told her I will never do that. Not just in Mahanati, I will never ever reprise any role played by my grandfather because I feel I don’t have such force within me to do justice to it,” said Jr NTR speaking at the audio launch of Mahanati.
Mahanati will have cameos of yesteryear actors Akkineni Nageswara Rao, N.T.Rama Rao, S.V.Ranga Rao and many others. While ANR’s role is being played by Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, it is unknown yet who would be playing the role of the legendary N.T.Rama Rao. Mahanati is slated to be released on May 9th, 2018 worldwide and will be a simultaneous release in Telugu and Tamil.
