The dashing and charismatic Rana Daggubati is arguably one of the most popular young stars in Telugu cinema today. In just a few years, this handsome hunk has found firm footing in the industry courtesy his impressive performances, suave personality and sincere performances. Moreover, he has won hearts thanks to his A-list style game and bindass nature. Today, as Rana celebrates his birthday, let us take a quick look at his personal/professional life. Rana was born on 14 December 1984 in Chennai to producer Suresh Babu and received his basic education in Hyderabad.

In 2010, he made his big screen debut with ‘Leader’ and began a new chapter in life. The film was directed by Shekhar Kammula and received good reviews upon release. Thereafter, he went on to star in popular films such as ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’ and ‘Naa Ishtam’, carving a niche for himself. In 2015, he played the antagonist in ‘Baahubali’ and became the talk of the town. An SS Rajamouli directorial, it became a blockbuster and propelled him to the big league. He reprised his role in ‘Baahubali 2’—which hit screens in 2017—and did an equally impressive job. The film, just like the first part, became a huge hit and helped him continue his accent. 2017 also saw him play the lead role in ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’ and get the thumbs up from critics. In it, he was seen opposite Kajal Aggarwal and delivered a good performance. Talking about the film, he had said that it is superficially to the popular Hollywood hit ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. He had also revealed that it is a commercial story with an artsy feel to it.

“Teja approached me with the idea at the end of ‘Ghazi’ and at the beginning of ‘Baahubali 2’. We spent eight months developing the character (Jogendra) and wrote different versions of the story. This is a commercial story of a politician, but told in a way an art film is narrated. I’m a huge fan of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, and I consider it today’s classic. As a tale, it could be very dark but the flamboyance with which (Leonardo) DiCaprio’s character takes you through the madness in his life is amazing. We tried to do that in a rural set up but against the backdrop of Indian politics,” he had added.

At present, he has ‘1945’ and ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ in his kitty. ‘1945 is a war-drama and will see him play the role of a solider. Recently, he had told Pinkvilla South that the film will deal with the life a solider from the INA.

“Right now, I’m shooting for a film set in 1945. It’s a story about a soldier who fought in the INA regiment of Subhas Chandra Bose. It’s set in a turmoil kind of situation after the Tamil moves to South East Asia and Telugu moved to Burma. It’s being shot in Telugu and Tamil, a bilingual. It is being directed by Sathya Sivan,” he had added.

As far as ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ is concerned, it is a Telugu-Tamil-Hindi trilingual and will be directed by Prabhu Solomon. It is touted to be a tribute to the yesteryear classic of the same name. Recently, he had said the film will highlight the relevance of nature in our lives.

“There’s a very exciting physical language to the character I’m playing in Haathi Mere Saathi and is completely different from what I’ve done in the past. I’ve always wanted to be a part of content that can travel across the country. It’s a rare story about the relevance of nature in our lives, narrated through a wonderful relationship between man and elephant. Prabhu Solomon’s passion for nature and elephants makes him the finest craftsman in the country who can handle a story like this,” he had told a daily.

Well, we wish him a happy birthday and hope that he has a terrific year ahead. Oh, and here are some lovely pics of the star.
