Veteran actor Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018 in Dubai after accidentally drowning in her hotel bath-tub. Fans have still not come to terms with untimely demise of the legendary actor Sridevi. Ram Gopal Varma is extremely saddened and still in disbelief. He had worked with the late actor in Telugu movies Kshana Kshanam and Govinda Govinda. RGV today posted a picture of them from the sets of his second film. He captioned the picture, ‘Getting ready for the first shot of Kshana Kshanam’. The film starred Venkatesh and Paresh Rawal alongside the diva.
Varma, in his memoir, Guns and Thighs had written that he wrote the script for Kshana Kshanam with one and only purpose of impressing her and added that it was a love letter from his side. He wrote, “Throughout the making of the film I just couldn’t take my eyes off her charm, beauty, personality and her demeanor was a new discovery for me”. The comedy thriller received critical acclaim and won three state Nandi awards for best Director (Ram Gopal Varma), Best actress(Sridevi) and Best Cinematographer (Gopala Reddy.
Meanwhile Ram Gopal Varma is collaborating with Akkineni Nagarjuna after 24 years for the film Officer. It is said to be an action thriller with Nagarjuna essaying the role of a cop. The movie will hit the theatre screens on May 25, 2018 . The director-actor duo teamed up for the first time for the 1990 Telugu movie Shiva, which became a blockbuster.
Varma was supposed to release the title of the film on the day Sridevi passed away. He released the film’s poster and wrote on his social media account, ‘After all the negativity around Sridevi, I am truly wanting some positivity and releasing the title, first look poster and release date of my most ambitious film with Nagarjuna.”
